Keke Palmer & ‘Hawkeye’ Director Teaming Up For Action Comedy ‘Moxie’

Per Deadline, Keke Palmer has signed on to star in an action comedy titled Moxie with Hawkeye director Amber Templemore-Finlayson – also known as ‘Bert’ as one half of directing duo Bert and Bertie – at the helm.

Heather Quinn (Werewolf By Night) has written the script with Palmer, Peter Lawson, and Kate Churchill producing. The project reportedly already has interest from several studios and streamers. The film revolves around a foul-mouthed stripper who pisses off the FBI in a big way when she somehow becomes the best candidate for their fancy new agent program.

Little else is known about the project right now, but it’s understandable that plenty of streamers and studios would be interested, as Palmer is coming off a good year where she stole the show in Jordan Peele‘s Nope and also voiced Izzy Hawthorne in Pixar’s Lightyear. Bert and Bertie’s good work on Disney+ series Hawkeye also likely caught the attention of many industry higher-ups.

If Moxie sounds familiar, you’re right, but this film shouldn’t be confused with another recent movie that had the same title. That was Amy Poehler‘s comedy drama about a girl starting a feminist zine at her high school.

This project is only in the very earliest stages of development right now, so more information will become available down the line. The only other project Palmer is currently working on is Aziz Ansari‘s Being Mortal, although production has currently been suspended due to a complaint against co-star Bill Murray for alleged inappropriate behavior.
