Manchester rising star SVMI has garnered strong support as well as rave reviews from tastemakers, such as BBC 1Xtra, KISS Fresh and Notion to only name a few, with his latest single “P.O.P (Hold It Down)”.
However, the rising rapper isn’t taking some time to rest on his laurels as he has just returned with a new single. Entitled “Milan”, the single was produced by his long-time collaborator LiTek (who has also worked with Rag’n’Bone and Central Cee).
SVMI took the occasion to also announce the release of his debut EP. Entitled Ma Mood, it is set to be released on June 18 via NQ Records.
For his single “Milan”, the artist chose a melodic approach and used some autotune creating a quite unique sound. It also comes with its music video where we can see SVMI in different places from a plane to the ground of a mansion.
About his inspiration behind this new single, the rapper says: “the track is me wanting to get out of town to escape the drama and negativity. I was tired of people getting onto me for doing music, and you can hear me responding on the verses.
There was a lot going on when I made this song from girl trouble dealing with jealousy and spite, and the track perfectly captured my frame of mind. I wrote the song just when I was making that transition into being an artist and that’s not as easy as people think. Sometimes you just want to drop everything and fly away.”
SVMI only started to make music a couple of years ago but before that, he was already known on Manchester’s scene for being a teenager who was able to create captivating music videos for the likes of Aitch and Izzie Giibs.
His breakthrough single “Bait Lies” blew up last summer and with other singles like “Old Friends” and “Timeout”, which are fan-favorites, the rapper had already amassed five million strrams.
SVMI is, for sure, one of Manchester’s rising stars you will want to watch.
