Chadwick Boseman, passed away on August 28 in Los Angeles from colon cancer. He played the role of King T’Challa in Black Panther so well that the question of his replacement is problematic.
Following the death of the actor, fans were keen to make their voices heard. According to a large majority, the role of T’Challa in the MCU shouldn’t be re-casted. And indeed, the MCU would have chosen not to re-cast the role of T’Challa for the moment, but to let Shuri take on the role of ‘Black Panther’, who would thus become the new protector of Wakanda.
For the moment, this is only information from sources close to Marvel, but it has not yet been confirmed by the firm.
This choice seemed to suit most fans, and yet it has left many disappointed. Some of them just came together to start a petition about it. According to them, it is important that the role of Chadwick Boseman is re-casted.
The petition was started by a user named E-Man’s Movie Reviews. He explained himself in the description, on Change.org. “If Marvel Studios removes T’Challa, it would be at the expense of the audiences who saw themselves in him”, he writes.
The fans behind this petition don’t want to suddenly turn the page on Chadwick Boseman. They just want to see his character continue what he started. In their eyes, it would be a better way to pay tribute to the work started by the actor.
This petition has just been launched on Change.org platform and has already collected, at the time of writing this article, 4,000 signatures. It proves to us that there are plenty of fans in the MCU who are still hoping for the role of T’Challa to be re-cast.
