Nashville Based Artist Mali Velasquez Releases New Song ‘Tore’

Singer-songwriter, Mali Velasquez, recently premiered the lead single, “Tore”, from her forthcoming debut album.

The indie rock track, deeply rooted in folk influences, introduces listeners to Velasquez’s unique perspective of the world around her. Along with the single, an engaging music video has also been unveiled.

Velasquez’s “Tore” is a candid reflection on self-sabotage. As the artist herself admits, “I have no idea how to combat being embarrassed all the time still, but explaining it some has helped. Being comfortable in my skin is something that feels out of reach a lot of the time. I put a lot of my ideas of not knowing how to feel or what to do or eat or wear into this song.”

Produced by Josef Kuhn, the nine-track album delves deep into Velasquez’s personal experiences. It not only navigates the profound sorrow of losing her mother but also chronicles her struggles with body image and maintaining authenticity amid a tumultuous relationship with her physical self.

The album features poignant tracks like “Death Grip”, a contemplation on the relentless march of time and the futile struggle to mend the conflicts in a long-standing relationship.

“Bobby”, another significant track, portrays a young Velasquez striving to piece together memories after her mother’s passing, underscoring the belief that we often seek approval from ourselves above anyone else.

Listeners can anticipate the release of Velasquez’s full-length debut album, I’m Green, set to drop on October 13, 2023.
