New ‘Sherlock’ Image Revealed For Victorian Special | TV News

Mark Gatiss teased us on Twitter last night with a message that read, “a little treat heading your way at midnight! (UK time) #Sherlock“, and the wait is over. A new image for a future Sherlock episode has been released by the BBC! The picture, showing actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman dressed in victorian clothing (with Freeman sporting a glorious moustache), promotes a new special episode of Sherlock which will stand apart from the rest of the television series.

The episode has been confirmed to be time-travelling back to a 19th century setting, coming away from its usual 21st century surroundings and honouring the period in which author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote the original Sherlock Holmes stories, starting in 1887 with the novel A Study In Scarlet. The Sherlock special episode is rumoured to air around Christmas 2015, and should keep eager fans of the series distracted from the long wait for series four in 2017.
