Palestinian Indie Band El Morabba3 Returns With New Single ‘El Wuhoosh’

El Morabba3, a Jordanian/Palestinian indie band, makes a comeback with their new single “El Wuhoosh” after a seven-year absence, providing both devoted followers and brand-new listeners a glimpse of what’s to come in terms of their artistic frontiers.

El Morabba3 captured the revolutionary spirit of a generation between the release of their first, self-titled album in 2012 and their second, “Taraf Al Khait“, in 2016, with their trenchant indie-rock style and lyrics.

El Morabba3’s original singer-songwriter-bassist Muhammad Abdullah and the music producer and sound artist Basel Naouri are now reorganizing the band and focused on a new aesthetic after moving from Amman to Berlin.

The musicians have delved far into experimenting with electronic sound and storytelling, departing from the raw post-rock energy of the first album and the polished instrumental/electronic fury of the second.

The film “El Wuhoosh” more than demonstrates this new direction. Muhammad Abdullah’s lyrics have an evocative power that is well known to listeners, and they are present here again in full force.

The lyrics of “El Wuhoosh,” which go something like this: “If there’s still some soul in you, / Hey soul, bounce back,” are bound to strike a chord with everyone who has ever had their world pillaged and hoped for restoration.

The “El Wuhoosh” video by El Morabba3 reimagines these auditory and lyrical conflicts in stark black and white, evoking the tropes of horror films, fairy tales, and graphic novels while creating a vision of a fragmented subject and posing the question, “Are we our own monsters?”

We hope you enjoy this song and we’re excited to share more brand-new music by one of the most prominent figures in the Arab independent music scene with you.
