Phil Lord & Chris Miller Team With ‘Ready Or Not’ Directors For Bear-Themed Horror Comedy | Film News

Per Collider, there’s a bear-themed horror comedy in the works at Universal.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse) are teaming with Ready Or Not filmmakers Radio Silence for the film, which is being described as a bizarre mix between Good Boys and The Revenant.

The studio has reportedly purchased an untitled spec from Jimmy Warden that Lord and Miller will produce with Chad Villella of Radio Silence, whose Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett will direct.

Radio Silence has been in demand since Ready or Not took in nearly $60 million at the box office despite costing Fox Searchlight only a tenth of that figure. Profits like that will always keep studios interested.

This project is a part of the first-look deal Lord and Miller signed with Universal in early August, after signing a massive overall television deal with Sony Pictures TV. They’ve thoroughly landed on their feet despite their unceremonious ousting from Solo: A Star Wars Story last year.

It’s hard to know what to expect from a bear-themed horror comedy, except something bizarre. Although Lord and Miller aren’t at the helm, even when they produce films their fingerprints are all over the final product. Thus, despite the strange logline, expect this film to be filled with fun, have an airtight story and, and be incredibly well paced.

Expect to hear more about this soon. Don’t expect a film with such disparate comparison movies to keep its story under wraps for much longer.
