Portland Based Producer Yfjess Unveils ‘Wednesdays’ Featuring Old Man Of The Woods

From the vibrant musical landscape of the Pacific Northwest, artists Yfjesse and Old Man of the Woods have combined their distinct talents to craft a poignant synth-pop track titled “Wednesdays.”

Launched on July 26, 2023, “Wednesdays” offers a deep dive into the complexities of a toxic relationship, skillfully oscillating between the nuances of affection and discord.

The collaboration between Yfjesse (real name Jesse Gertz) and Old Man of the Woods, also known as Miranda Elliott, was long in the making. The duo had been considering a joint project since 2021.

Gertz, in his signature style, introduced a series of spontaneous sounds to Elliott, prompting a dynamic exchange of ideas. Through this back-and-forth, the seeds of several song concepts were sown, one of which blossomed into the evocative track, “Wednesdays.”

Jesse Gertz embarked on his musical journey by dabbling with basic music software. As his passion and expertise grew, he stepped into the spotlight, performing alongside touring indie and electronic artists like Dan Deacon and The Books.

Ultimately, Gertz decided to chart his own path as a solo electronic artist, releasing his debut album, Spirit Sound System, under the moniker “yfjesse” in 2022.

On the other hand, Seattle’s very own songwriter and producer, Miranda Elliott, introduced listeners to her distinctive sound with a 2020 EP titled Dissolve.

The EP explored personal experiences set against the backdrop of the natural world. A year later, Elliott unveiled her debut album Votives, an audacious exploration of contrasting emotions, weaving threads of affection, isolation, faith, and skepticism.

For those yearning for a soul-stirring musical experience, “Wednesdays” by Yfjesse and Old Man of the Woods is available for streaming below.
