After two shootings in a row in US over the weekend, the first one in El Paso, near the Mexican border, and hours later, in Ohio, Donald Trump left a message in his Twitter, calling the crimes a “hateful act”, a “cowardice” and a “tragedy”.
“There is no reasons or excuses that will ever justify killing innocent people”, tweeted the president before offering his “heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the great people of Texas”.
Rihanna hit out against Trump’s mass shootings response on her Instagram. Posting a screenshoot of the President’s tweet, she claimed that there is a lot to do to solve this problem.
“Imagine a world where it’s easier to get an AK-47 than a visa! Imagine a world where they build a wall to keep terrorists IN AMERICA!”, she exclaimed, as she sent her condolences to the family’s victims and communities affected and traumatised by the shootings.
Another musicians also call out the shootings. Cardi B describe them as “yet ANOTHER homegrown domestic white supremacist terrorist who on his Twitter idolises Trump”.
Rihanna is known to make political statements on her social media accounts. In June, the singer shared an image of her wearing a Fendi T-shirt with the word ‘Immigrant’ written on it. The fashion brand created that collection as a rejection to Trump’s immigration policies and Rihanna’s post at the time, was 100% aimed at Trump.
