Rihanna Returns To Music With ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’ Original Song ‘Lift Me Up’

The new single from chart-topping queen Rihanna has finally been released, ending the long wait.

With the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever opening single “Lift Me Up“, Rihanna has made a comeback in the music industry. With her new music “Lift Me Up” from the upcoming film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the 34-year-old singer has released her first new song in nearly five years.

The lead single from the Wakanda Forever album, “Lift Me Up,” was created as a homage to Chadwick Boseman, the original hero of the Marvel franchise. After a fight with colon cancer, he died in August 2020.

The song will be released under Rihanna’s own Westbury Road label. Rihanna’s Westbury Road label will release the new single in collaboration with Roc Nation, Def Jam Recordings, and Hollywood Records.

RiRi also co-wrote “Lift Me Up” with Afrobeats sensation Tems, Oscar-winning producer Ludwig Göransson and Black Panther director Ryan Coogler.

Speaking about the making of the song, Tems says, “After speaking with Ryan and hearing his direction for the film and the song, I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people that I’ve lost in my life. I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them.

She added that, “Rihanna has inspired me, so hearing her convey this song is a great honor”.

Rihanna will also be performing at the fourth Savage x Fenty fashion show for Prime Video in addition to headlining the Super Bowl halftime show in 2023, which was announced by the NFL a few weeks ago.

This new single and her Super Bowl halftime performance announcement comes on the backdrop of Rihanna’s ardent fan base yearning for her ninth studio album, which she has indicated will be “reggae-infused” and has hinted is nearing completion since 2019.
