Ringo Starr has sold his personal copy of The BeatlesWhite Album for $790,000 at auction. Starr’s copy was labelled No.0000001 – the first album to be pressed. Before bidding began, the estimated return for the collectible was $40,000-60,000… needless to say that sum was shattered within minutes!

As well as selling his copy of White Album, the drummer and his wife Barbara Bach also sold over 800 items at the Julien’s auction in Beverly Hills. This included his 1963 drum kit, which sold for a whopping $2.2m to Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay, who also purchased a Rickenbacker guitar, gifted to Star from band-mate John Lennon, for $910,000.
