Robert Pattinson, Amy Adams & Robert Downey Jr. To Star In Adam McKay’s ‘Average Height, Average Build’

Adam McKay is reuniting with Netflix off the success of climate change satire Don’t Look Up for another star-studded project. This one is titled Average Height, Average Build and has already secured Robert Pattinson, Amy Adams, and Robert Downey Jr. for key roles.

McKay will write, direct, and produce under his Hyperobject Industries banner alongside Kevin Messick. Forest Whitaker and Danielle Deadwyler are also on board in supporting roles.

Pattinson will reportedly play a serial killer who enlists a lobbyist (Adams) to change laws that will allow him to get away with murder more easily. Downey plays a retired cop who won’t give up on the murders, and the killer tries to prevent him from dogging his trail now that he’s hung up his gun.

But the killer turns himself into a cause celebre – a Mr. Smith Goes to Washington-esque figure – shielding his true motives and getting the public on his side.

It sounds like another shrewd mix of black comedy and political corruption that McKay has already tackled with the aforementioned Don’t Look Up, as well as The Big Short and Vice.

McKay brought the project to market right after the Oscars. After reportedly taking his time deciding on where the film was best suited, he eventually decided to collaborate with Netflix again. And it makes sense – despite mixed reviews, Don’t Look Up is Netflix’s second most popular film of all time globally and received four Academy Award nominations.

McKay is at that point in his career where every big star wants to work with him, so expect Average Height, Average Build to be another talked-about hit.

But his meta style that felt so fresh in The Big Short has started to wear a little thin, so it will be interesting to see if he mixes it up a little here. Either way, expect plenty of hype for this one.
