Sebastian Stan & Maria Bakalova Set For Paul Feig Spy Comedy At Paramount

Sebastian Stan (Pam & Tommy) and Maria Bakalova (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm) have signed on to star in an untitled spy comedy that’s in very early development at Paramount.

Paul Feig (Bridesmaids) will produce and is circling to potentially direct, while Jenny Bicks (Welcome to Flatch) will write the script.

Not much is known about the movie right now, but it’s said to involve a failed double agent who becomes an unlikely success.

Feig has experience with many comedies, but specifically spy comedies, as he directed the Melissa McCarthy-led Spy and The Heat, with the latter also starring Sandra Bullock. Stan and Bakalova have also had recent success in the genre, so this sounds like a really good potential pairing.

Stan landed a number of awards for his role in Hulu miniseries Pam & Tommy, while he also recently starred in con thriller Sharper and Mimi Cave‘s horror-thriller Fresh.

He will next be seen starring opposite The Worst Person in the World‘s Reinate Reinsve in upcoming A24 thriller A Different Man, and will also soon return to the MCU with Thunderbolts.

Bakalova broke out with her Oscar-nominated turn in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm and also featured in A24’s darkly comedic horror-thriller Bodies Bodies Bodies.

She’ll next be seen in drama Fairyland, which recently premiered at Sundance, and will also play Cosmo the Spacedog in James Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which hits cinemas next month.

Feig is currently in production on Amazon action-comedy Grand Death Lotto, which will star John Cena, Awkwafina, and Simu Liu. His most recent film was Netflix’s The School For Good and Evil.

He’s also currently developing an adaptation of Maureen Kilmer‘s novel Suburban Hell for Legendary with Sam Raimi.
