Selena Gomez has released a new futuristic and colourful music video for her new single “Look At Her Now”, which she co-wrote with Julia Michaels, Justin Tranter and Ian Kirkpatrick. The new video suprised her fans, since it came out without warning, only a few hours after yesterday’s music video for “Lose You to Love Me”.
The two songs are deeply connected as Gomez said in a statement: “I felt having these two songs released back to back completed the story of how one can rise no matter what challenges life brings, turning off the noise and living your life on your terms”. Both the songs are linked to a toxic relationship that did more harm than good to the singer.
In the video, directed by Sophie Muller and shot on iPhone 11 Pro, Selena dances with a crew of backup dancers, in a room illuminated by colourful flashing lights. The song is about her wounds of love, about recovering from a bad relationship and learning to love herself. She sings: “She knows she’ll find love / Only if she wants it. / Of course she was sad, But now she’s glad she dodged a bullet / Took a few years to soak up the tears,
But look at her now, watch her go”.
