Serena Williams, is the most successful WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) player of all time. She won titles in all four Grand Slams, 73 singles and 23 doubles championships, and gold medals at the 2000, 2008 and 2012 Olympics.
The sports icon’s extraordinary career would soon be traced in a series. During a charity event organized by Vanity Fair on April 13, Serena William announced the news that she has signed a contract with streaming platform Amazon Prime
“Serena has transformed her sport and become one of the most inspiring athletes, entrepreneurs and women of her generation, admired not only for her unmatched prowess on the court but for her dedication to advocacy as well.” said Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios.
This agreement will soon give rise to a documentary series which will retrace the personal and sporting life of the champion.
The multi-part documentary, whose title and release date have not yet been revealed, might just be the beginning for Serena Williams, who will then be able to come up with other projects for the studio.
“I’m very excited to be partnering with Amazon Studios; they are developing some of the most inspiring and important content for a global audience. I have a lot of stories I’m eager to tell, including a continuation of my own, and I look forward to sharing those with the world”, said Williams.
The series will be produced by Serena Williams, tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou, Stuart Cabb and Tony Pastor will be executive producers.
The champion already released a docuseries in 2018. Entitled Being Serena, it was broadcast on HBO, and focused on her career.
