It seems that Walt Disney’s upcoming Star Wars – The Force Awakens is set to be the biggest success in the galaxy and it hasn’t even been released yet! Directed by J.J Abrams, the latest edition to the saga has already sold an enormous $50 million in advanced ticket sales, a figure that is predicted by Deadline to “rise to $100 million” in time for the film’s release on December 18.
A source explained to Variety that IMAX tickets have been the biggest selling point: “Most IMAX screenings have sold out, but outside of those premium formats, there are tickets remaining to many shows on opening weekend”. In the US, the current record for the most profit earned from a box-office is held by Jurassic World; which deputed with $209 million in June, meaning The Force Awakens could be almost halfway there before a single screening takes place.
