Another day, another film steamrolled by the force that is Star Wars: The Force Awakens. On New Year’s Eve the film plucked another $22.9 million, and by the end of New Year’s Day the film will reportedly pass both Jurassic World ($652.3 million) and Titanic ($658.7 million) to become the second-biggest grosser of all time in America.
As we speak, the film is $100 million shy of passing Avatar to become the highest-grossing movie ever in America. But considering how many records the juggernaut that is Star Wars: The Force Awakens has demolished, the film will probably steal that title away from James Cameron as well. Globally, the film has earned an impressive $1.3 billion, making it the eighth highest-grossing film off all time. We just can’t get enough of the galaxy far, far away and understandably so.
