The first posthumous DMX album has been announced!
Entitled Exodus and executive produced by DMX’s career-long producer and friend Swizz Beats, the new record will be released on May 28 via Def Jam Recordings. The news has been shared on DMX’s Instagram profile.
In a press release, Swizz Beats stated: “My brother X was one of the most pure and rare souls I’ve ever met. He lived his life dedicated to his family and music. Most of all, he was generous with his giving and loved his fans beyond measure. This album, X couldn’t wait for his fans all around the world to hear and show just how much he valued each and every single person that has supported him unconditionally.”
The soon-to be released album will be the first Def Jam album by DMX in 18 years after 2003’s Grand Cham, Exodus shares its name with DMX’s son Exodus Simmons and is weaved with themes of redemption. The album’s cover was shot by original photographer Jonathan Mannion, who did one of the most iconic shots of DMX throughout his career.
