The Russo Brothers have made a name for themselves thanks to the Avengers franchise. Self-professed comic books’ lovers, the duo, who are part of Hollywood’s elite class, have attached their name to a new comic books TV adaptation.
They are serving as executive producers for the new Syfy TV series Deadly Class, a live adaptation of Rick Remender‘s graphic novel of the same name.
The synopsis for the series follows homeless teenager Marcus Lopez in this coming-of-age story set against the backdrop of late 1980s counterculture, who gets recruited to attend a private school where the world’s most dangerous criminals send their sons and daughters.
By the first look at it, which was unveiled this weekend during the San Diego Comic Con Panel for the series, Syfy is offering a gritty and interesting take on this Gotham meets Riverdale TV show where teens get turned into assassins.
Talking about the comics the Russo brothers have said that Deadly Class is one of the most twisted coming of age story they have ever read and that does a perfect job at depicting those early years of teenage angst and alienation, while managing to give it a deadly, punk-rock spin.
Considering that everything the Russo brothers touch gets turned into gold, it’s not hard to see that Deadly Class is bound to become one of the newest, best offering of the upcoming television season.
The series will drop on the small screen in 2019 and it stars Benjamin Wadsworth as Marcus, Benedict Wong as Master Lin, Lana Condor in the role of Saya and Maria Gabriela de Faria as Maria.
