Taissa Farmiga Added To ‘Conjuring’ Spin-Off ‘The Nun’ | Film News

There’s a slight possibility that in ten years every single horror film will somehow be connected to The Conjuring. The original film has already spawned a sequel, a spin-off prequel, an upcoming sequel to that prequel, and a second spin-off. Keeping up?

While Annabelle wasn’t the critical hit the original film was, it still brought in $256 million on a less than $7 million budget. See why these things keep getting made?

In an interesting bit of casting news, the second spin-off, The Nun, has cast Taissa Farmiga to play the titular role. This is pretty cool, considering that Taissa’s sister Vera Farmiga starred alongside Patrick Wilson in The Conjuring and it’s sequel. Whether that bloodline will extent to the Conjuring universe as some sort of supernatural plot point is yet to be seen, but it would certainly be intriguing.

The Nun follows “a priest named Father Burke who is sent to Rome to investigate the mysterious death of a nun”, which was first introduced in The Conjuring 2. Farmiga will star alongside Demián Bichir who has already been cast.

So, The Conjuring franchise rolls on. The Nun arrives July 13, 2018, but if creepy dolls is more your thing, Annabelle: Creation creaks into cinemas Friday, August 11.
