The 15 Stars With The Best Looks At The 2023 Critics’ Choice Awards

The 28th annual Critics’ Choice Awards took place on Sunday, January 15, at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, California. The best performances in film and television were honoured at this ceremony, which was emceed by comedian Chelsea Handler.

The red carpet event carried on in glitzy awards style after last week’s Golden Globes step and repeat; voluminous silhouettes, in particular, proved to be the night’s biggest trend, with Hollywood A-listers donning formal designs with large ruffles or sweeping trains.

The front-runners for best actor in the Critics’ Choice Awards provided the evening’s fashion highlights. Michelle Yeah looked stunning in a black and pink Carolina Herrera outfit that featured a pink shawl with ruffles that touched the ground behind her.

In an Alexander McQueen calico tulle gown with a fanned-out skirt, Elle Fanning leaned into an 18th-century silhouette. Michelle Williams, in contrast, went more streamlined in a golden disco ball-inspired Louis Vuitton column dress.

The best-dressed men injected new ideas into the formal suiting look. Henry Golding chose a velvety green tuxedo with a hint of colour, while Miles Teller wore a black Gucci tuxedo with the traditional black bow tie.

Matt Smith demonstrated that wearing no tie at all is possible by donning a silk blouse that had a necktie already sewn into it and slung loosely around his neck. Even though it adhered to the evening wear rules, it had a slightly more contemporary and cool vibe.
