Following the release of the first trailer in April, Disney has recently unveiled a new trailer for the movie Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. This film will be the last part and culmination of the sequel-trilogy, directed by J.J. Abrams.
The new trailer was first presented at the Monday Night Football matchup between the New York Jets and New England Patriots, and has immediately triggered fans’ excitement. The Youtube video has reached more than 6 million views in only a few hours.
In the new trailer, like in the first one, Daisy Ridley‘s character Rey is the first protagonist to appear on the screen, running through a forest with her light saber.
The trailer gets more and more epic, with special visual effects, amazing battle scenes and the legendary Star Wars soundtrack, which increases the general hype. The trailer manages to convey the feeling that a legendary story is reaching an end, and explicitely reads: “The saga will end … the story lives forever”. We are also able to appreciate the late star Carrie Fisher, who appears on the trailer, and most likely in the film as well.
Director Abrams has reportedly said that the new movie “is the end of the trilogy and it needs to satisfy.” He added: “We went into this thing knowing it has to be an ending. We’re not screwing around. So if years from now, someone’s watching these movies, all nine of them, they’re watching a story that is as cohesive as possible”.
The new Star Wars movie will hit theaters on December 20. In the meantime, watch the new epic trailer below:
