Fans of the French supernatural thriller Les Revenants (The Returned) rejoice, the long awaited second season is coming! After a two-year hiatus, the second season – comprised of 8 episodes – will air on Channel 4 later this autumn. The series follows the residents of a remote French town faced with the return of long dead loved ones. Garnering critical acclaim in its first season, this dramatic take on the zombie narrative has continued to haunt audiences with its slow burning intensity.
The second season will center on Adele (Clotilde Hesme) six months after the disturbing events of last season’s finale. Carrying her reanimated lover’s child, we could see some parallels developing with the opulently disturbing Rosemary’s Baby. With new characters to be introduced, and a marauding hoard on the loose, season 2 seems set to tantalize and terrify in equal measure. Les Revenants stars Anne Cosigney, Frédéric Pierrot, and Clotilde Hesme, and features an unforgettable soundtrack from UK post-rock band, Mogwai.
