The Rumours Of A ‘Mary Poppins’ Revival Are Sadly Very True | Film News
It’s disturbing to realise that the rumours surrounding Disney’s revival of one of their most iconic characters is true, and that the legendary Mary Poppins won’t be portrayed by the woman who immortalized her; Julie Andrews.
Today the first nail was thudded into the coffin of those rumours when it was revealed that Emily Blunt is in talks to play the feminist icon. Variety has reported that Blunt is in early talks to star in a sequel directed by Rob Marshall. Insiders have also revealed details of the film, including the setting, and that it will take place twenty years after the original in Depression-era London, and explore Poppin’s further adventures with the Banks’ family.
