The first full-length trailer for the Amazon Studios produced drama Beautiful Boy has been released.
The film will hit theatres on October 12, right in time to kick off the Award season and it stars Academy Nominee Steve Carell and Timothèe Chalamet, in this family drama about addictions and the bond between father and son.
The movie is based on the memoir of the same name from David and Nic Sheff. According to Deadline “Beautiful Boy chronicles the heartbreaking and inspiring experience of survival, relapse, and recovery in a family coping with addiction over many years.”
Given the big names involved and the raw material on which the film is based on, it’s not hard to believe that it will easily be a good Oscar contender. Chalamet, after his big break with Call Me By Your Name and Lady Bird, has a bunch of movies coming out soon that should seal the deal for the young promising actor and officially consecrate him to stardom.
Steve Carell, after an early start in the comedy genre, has since proved his craft as an actor. The star of The 40 Year Old Virgin can boast quite the resume, that spans from comedy to drama and even a stint in animation. After having seen him as tennis player Bobby Riggs in Battle of the Sexes with Emma Stone, Carell has an equally interesting year ahead with Beautiful Boy dropping in October and Robert Zemeckis‘ Welcome to Marwen next.
