An adaptation of Jeff Smith’s science fiction noir comic RASL is in the early stages of development at Universal TV. Walter Parkes aand Laurie MacDonald are set to collaborate and produce the adaptation, alongside former AMC executive Owen Shifflett. Smith and Leslie Hough will also have producer credits.
If picked up, RASL would be Smith’s first property to head to television, despite the rights being acquired by Wigram Productions four years prior. Originally a black and white comic book, RASL chronicles the adventures of an ex-military engineer turned thief, who discovers the lost journals of NikolaTesla, and gains possession of humanity’s most dangerous secret. His discovery sets him against shadowy government forces and mysterious universal powers.
