Vince Vaughn To Star In Netflix Action Comedy From ‘Workaholics’ Creator | Film News

Netflix has reportedly acquired a pitch for an action/adventure comedy, and they’ve brought Vince Vaughn on board to star. The project doesn’t yet have a title and very little is known about its plot, but we do know the movie will feature three leads, and is said to be in the spirit of City Slickers and Old School.

Anders Holm will write the script. He’s the co-creator, writer and star of Workaholics, and has previously worked with Netflix before on the action-comedy, Game Over, Man! Dan Farah (Ready Player One) and Peter Billingsley will produce. The latter has collaborated with Vaughn before on films such as Couples Retreat and Made.

Vaughn signing on for a comedy used to be practically a monthly thing, but now it’s more of an anomaly. Outside of the wrestling comedy-drama Fighting With My Family, Vaughn has leaned into darker roles in the last half-decade.

Projects like True Detective, Dragged Across Concrete, Hacksaw Ridge and Brawl In Cell Block 99 signalled an image shift for the man that used to be a ubiquitous player in studio comedies. He also has the drama Seberg with Kristen Stewart scheduled for December and the crime drama Arkansas in post-production. So this is a throwback role more than anything.

Vaughn himself co-starred in Old School back in 2003, which was also one of Will Ferrell‘s first leading roles. But considering Holm’s last Netflix script, expect this to be more action-heavy than a college comedy like that.
