Wesley Snipes and Tiffany Haddish have signed on to star in Back On The Strip, a comedy in the works at the newly launched Luminosity Entertainment.
The film will follow a young man named Merlin who moves to Las Vegas to pursue his dream of becoming a magician after losing the woman of his dreams. But when a costume malfunction reveals his physical ‘gifts,’ he is recruited to become the frontman of an infamous male revue group.
Back On The Strip will be mark the feature directorial debut of Chris Spencer, the creator and executive producer of Real Husbands Of Hollywood and writer of Grown-ish.
“We have assembled an amazing cast with the industry’s greatest comedic talent. It is a privilege to direct this film, one I co-wrote that has a cast of this caliber for my first feature film,” he told Deadline.
Snipes and Haddish will also produce the film, which sounds a little like a more light-hearted version of Paul Thomas Anderson‘s Boogie Nights. The film will also star Spencer Moore II, JB Smoove, and Faizon Love.
Elie Samaha, Missy Valdez, Geno Taylor and Daniel Diamond have founded Luminosity Entertainment, which will finance, produce and distribute feature films theatrically in the U.S. and also handle foreign sales.
They’ll be hoping for a good start with Back On The Strip and its double entendre title. There’s no word on when the film is expected to begin production.
