Indie thriller The Cow had already cast names such as Dermot Mulroney, Brianne Tju, and Owen Teague, but now has found its star – Winona Ryder.
The Beetlejuice and Stranger Things star is leading the film, which will be the feature directorial debut of Eli Horowitz, the co-creator of Amazon’s anthology series Homecoming.
Horowitz has co-written the film alongside Matthew Derby, but unfortunately plot details are being kept close to the vest. All we know is that there’s a mystery involved, but an indie thriller starring Ryder and directed by Horowitz should be enough to pique the interest of plenty of people.
The film is being produced by BoulderLight Pictures and the Singapore-based production company mm2 Asia, who previously teamed up to develop horror film The Vigil. Anthony Eu of mm2 said in a statement:
“The Cow is a landmark film for mm2 Asia, and we are thrilled that we get to do it with this cast. We could not ask for a better lineup. BoulderLight Pictures have been amazing partners and we look forward to continue working with them in the future”.
Everyone involved in the movie has done a great job of keeping details a secret, as Ryder’s casting wasn’t revealed until now, just after production reportedly wrapped on the film. There’s currently no release date for The Cow, but we might see Ryder star in this before seeing her return for season four of Stranger Things, which isn’t due until late next year.
Fingers crossed that we get more information, including a release date, on The Cow in due time.
