Nigerian Afrobeats icon Wizkid and R&B rising star Tems have shared the music video for their joint track named “Essence”.
In October, WizKid released his album Made In Lagos, which was followed by a music video “Ginger” in collaboration with Burna Boy released in January. The singer doesn’t show signs of slowing down which is proved with yet another release of a sensual and atmospheric video for “Essence” which is the fourth music video released from Made In Lagos.
Directed by DK, the video for “Essence” was filmed in the streets of Accra, in Ghana. The visuals appeal its audience from the very first seconds: the combination of soft light and bold colours do a good job in translating the vibe of the song and dive the listener to its atmosphere.
The video is a truly great work that transfers the beauty of Afrobeats music and the song itself might serve as a perfect soundtrack of the upcoming summer.
While the smooth beat goes on, Tems’ low tember voice communicates to listeners: “Time is of the essence. I tried to teach you but I might need some lessons”.
Tems has released her For Broken Ears EP back in September 2020. The same year their collaboration with Wizkid earned her a number one spot on BBC 1Xtra Airplay Chart.
