Youtuber Joe Sugg To Make West End Debut In ‘Waitress’ | Arts

Strictly Come Dancing finalist and Youtuber Joe Sugg will star in an upcoming West End show, Waitress.

Sugg will be playing the role of Ogie, taking over from The Inbetweeners star Blake Harrison.

The 27-year-old will make his musical debut at London’s Adelphi Theatre on September 9, two days after Harrison finishes his run in the hit comedy, which tells the story of a waitress named Jenna who is in an abusive relationship with her husband Earl.

Sugg began making Youtube videos in 2011 and now has more than 8 million followers on the platform.

He came second in last year’s edition of Strictly Come Dancing with partner Dianne Buswell, who he is now in a relationship with.

Opening up about his first West End role, Sugg said he was “so excited” to be joining the cast of Waitress, calling the show “absolutely fantastic”.

“I’m excited to be a part of the cast and to have now landed a role in the West End really has topped off an incredible year for me”, he said.

“I hope I do everyone proud and thanks to all my supporters for making it all possible and the best year yet”.

The show promises to leave audiences “with a spring in their step and tears of joy in their eyes” with its story of “hope, love and a delicious future” for heroine Jenna, who is played by Lucie Jones.

Tickets for Waitress are available here.
