Cocoa Futures – The Blue | New Music

Cocoa Futures 11.08.2016ANDREW

If summer is all about funkiness and dancing till your feet hurt, Cocoa Futures, certainly just released the perfect soundtrack to the sun season.

“The Blue” is a breezy, joyful pop tune revolving around a wonky bassline that you will definitely struggle to take off your head. Playing with the riff rather than simply singing on it, the vocalist creates an interesting contrast between the metallic monotony of the instrumental and the flavours of his voice, in a way similar to Matthew Murphy’s vocal troubadorism.

Was I the only one eagerly waiting for a glorious sequel to “Techno Fan” by Murphy and his Wombats? Listen to the track below and get ready to jump around.

Cocoa Futures are set to release their debut EP in December, via Lost In The Manor Records.

I speak as loud as the volume I listen to music, and this is probably symptomatic of my love for pop music: I love pop music because it is often unapologetically in-your-face, it shouts rather than tell, it drives you crazy. And after 21 years loving pop music, I think I’ve completely gone mad. It all started in 1997, when my mum bought me my first cassette: needless to say, it was ‘Barbie Girl’ by Aqua, and from that point on, it’s been a never-ending loving relationship between me and music. I study, work and live life part-time, and listen to music full-time.
