Dr. Dre Set To Release First Album In Nearly 16 Years | Music News

Ice Cube has said that Dr. Dre is to be releasing a solo album after nearly 16 years and it could be out as early as this weekend. Ice Cube is Dre’s long time collaborator and let slip this information during an interview on Power 99, also suggesting that the album will coincide with the NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton.

Ice Cube said in the interview, “Dre is dropping an album inspired by the Compton movie. He’s dropping something on August 1, it’s mega, it’s Dr. Dre, it’s what everybody’s been waiting for. It’s definitely a dope record and he’s dropping it all on the same day“.

Even though Ice Cube said this, RollingStone claims to have received a ‘tip-off’ saying that the album will be released at a much later date than on the Saturday as previously thought, and that it will form the soundtrack for Straight Outta Compton. Earlier in the month, F Gary Gray, the film’s director, said that the soundtrack will be featuring Kendrick Lamar, Eminem and Dr. Dre. Straight Outta Compton will be released in UK cinemas on August 28.
