Emerging UK Afrobeats duo, Kwamz & Flava, have announced the details of their first ever headline show at London’s O2 Academy2 Islington on Thursday, November 24. Hailing from Peckham they have recently been signed to Black Butter, home to J Hus, Wiley, Kent Jones, DJ Khaled, Tink and Rudimental. Kwamz, real name Kelvin Laryea, Flava, real name Jermaine Boateng, met in school and quickly became friends.

Joined at the hip by their passion for music and their Ghanaian heritage, it was clear from an early age that they wanted to make music. Continuing to connect the dots on the UK Afrobeats map worldwide the pair have recently released their brand new video for the infectious single, “Takeover”.

The audio, which dropped earlier this year on YouTube and has since racked up over 3 million views, inspiring fans to upload their own dance versions making it a viral sensation. The accompanying visual was directed by Geoff Levy and is a vibrant three minutes of Afro infused, heart racing dance routines on the colourful streets of New York.

Choreographed by Tanisha Scott (Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Sean Paul, Beyonce and Drake), the result is a perfect blend of African and hip-hop dance styles to Afrobeats. The track is available on iTunes and Spotify now.

“There is a huge appetite for African music and we are so proud to be apart of this movement”, says Kwamz. “We love that we can fuse our British and African upbringing together in our music. ‘Takeover’ is such a feel good track, and we hope everyone enjoys it as much as we do”, laughs Flava.
