Maka – Boxed In (The Story Of O.J Cover) | New Music

Lagos based singer/songwriter Maka covers the controversial new Jay-Z song “The Story Of OJ”. The single released by the African artist has its own title “Boxed In”.

Maka’s interpretation is very interesting, the version proposed by the artist is more blues and sweet than the official track of the American superstar’s new album 4:44. The song is about black pride and it invites everyone to take a position against racism and to have the courage to change things. The song also denounces the usual narrative of the way black people are being viewed around the world.

Maka released her debut EP titled The Truth early 2016 under Str8Buttah Productions. The 7-track EP has been supported by numerous tastemaker artists and magazines in the field. She has also released an original movie soundtrack and a music video for the movie “Dinner”.
