Maroon 5 Banned From China For Wishing Dalai Lama Happy Birthday | Music News

US pop group Maroon 5 have been banned from entering China after posting a tweet wishing the Dalai Lama happy birthday. The group were planning on performing in Beijing and Shanghai in September but due to the government’s strict policies, the band have had to cancel all its shows there. Maroon 5 have been given no official explanation for their banishment but the tweet made by the band’s keyboardist was deleted since. This isn’t the first time an artist has been banned from performing in China for showing their support to the Dalai Lama. Other musicians who have been banned include Oasis and Bjork.
