Fans of the BBC’s The Musketeers can breathe a sigh of relief – the series is returning following the cliff hanger ending at the end of the second series, the band of heroes preparing for imminent war, but further excited by the news thta Milady – played by Maimie McCoy will be returning for the new series.

The news was confirmed by actor Tom Burke – who plays Milady’s one time husband Athos, commenting:

“She makes an appearance – she comes in, in an interesting way, in a very Milady-like way,” he revealed. “That was great, because it would’ve seemed weird if she hadn’t come back at all.”

Joining the cast in the antagonist role will be Rupert Everett as the corrupt Governor of Paris, Burke explaining the relationship between Athos and the new villain:

“There’s a complicité between him and Athos, to do with both having a self-destruct button,”

The Musketeers will return to BBC One later in 2016.
