Vic Mensa – I Been | New Music

“I Been” is a deep and dark trap-style track that is of the same ilk as “U Mad”. On this track, he focuses on telling the world that he’s been in the game for a long time, repeating the fact that “he ain’t new“. His flow shows he is full of confidence and he is definitely trying to make a statement, claiming that other rappers are “studio actors” and that he “doesn’t need their props“. However, the instrumentation is dominated by a dark bellowing bass which rarely changes throughout, and overall, the track is mediocre and his flow is strikingly too similar to J Cole’s.

I am a 23 year-old musician from Luton, who graduated from De Montfort University with a 2:1 in BA Music Technology & Performance. I sing and write songs in my spare time and I am a massive music enthusiast. I listen to all kinds of different music from indie rock and folk to hip hop and deep house, but I am mainly influenced by hip hop and R&B. I have been interested in music all my life, it shaped my life from phase to phase and I cannot live without it. I try and see live music when I can and attended Reading Festival last year to see my favorite indie rock band Arctic Monkeys. My other interests include superhero and horror films, sports and binging on TV shows.
