First aired in September 1994, the iconic show Friends continues to bring people together. To honour the 25th anniversary of its premiere, twelve selected episodes of the sitcom will be screened in 1,000 cinemas across the US in September and October this year.

Rachel, Ross, Chandler, Monica, Joey and Phoebe will hit the big screen for the first time ever since the show’s debut. The special event, called The One With The Anniversary, will also feature previously unreleased footage, as well as exclusive interviews with the cast and crew.

“We could not be more excited to deliver these digitally remastered episodes to theatres – for the first time ever! – so that together, in a shared experience, our loyal fans can enjoy some of their favourite Friends scenes in a new way”, said Warner Bros Television’s Lisa Gregorian.

Meanwhile, Friends has recently been named the most streamed show in the UK for the second year in a row, after all ten seasons of the sitcom were released on Netflix in January 2018 for fans to binge-watch. However, despite its continuing popularity, the show will be removed from Netflix in 2020 and then transferred to HBO Max.

Unfortunately for the British fans of Friends who would like to watch their favourite episodes on the big screen, it is currently unknown if the US cinema premiere will be recreated in the UK.
