Here we go! The production of the prequel to the phenomenon series Game Of Thrones has just started. HBO has revealed that the House of The Dragon series is now in production and will be launched in 2022.
This news was accompanied by a number of shots of the cast during a reading. The cast includes Matt Smith who will play the central character, Prince Daemon Targaryen.
He is joined by Paddy Considine as King Viserys; Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower; Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen; Rhys Ifans as the Hand of the King, Otto Hightower and finally Steve Touissant as Lord Corlys Velaryon, a legendary Westeros sailor, aka the Sea Snake.
House Of The Dragon is set 300 years before the original series and will follow Daenerys’ ancestors as House Targaryen begins its historic fall. The author of the books, George R.R. Martin is creating, while Game Of Thrones historical director, Miguel Sapochnik will be showrunner, along with Ryan J. Condal.
The filming locations are presumably being prepared. Metro relayed photos taken in Cornwall of a building bearing the symbol of House Velaryon, which is supposed to appear in the prequel. The article was retweeted by the official account of the upcoming series.
House Of The Dragon is one of six prequel projects linked to Game Of Thrones. A show is also being prepared for Broadway/West End.
