On January 10 Glenn Tilbrook, frontman of British band Squeeze, made the decision to change part of a song to protest a recent decision made by David Cameron to demolish and replace council flats. The song – “Cradle To The Grave” – was performed on The Andrew Marr Show in front of the Prime Minister himself.
Originally, Tilbrook wanted to change the whole song but found the idea “silly”. However, Cameron started talking about the policy on the show and the decision was made to change just one verse ten minutes beforehand.
“I felt: ‘I have to say something. I couldn’t look myself in the eye if I didn’t take this opportunity.’ I didn’t tell anybody what I was going to do – I didn’t want to make anyone else nervous. But I just knew I’d hate myself if I didn’t say something” Tilbrook expressed to The Guardian.
