Alternative Hip-Hop/R&B Duo Otomodatchi Realease New Single ‘Can’t Get Over Myself’

Alternative Hip-Hop/R&B duo Otomodatchi will make you travel between tropical R&B and 2000s punk rock with their new relaese “Can’t Get Over Myself”, imbued with a summer-ready R&B sound and naughties punk-influenced vocal melodies, and a chorus inspired by Paramore and Panic The Disco.

The track is produced by and featuring Tokyo producer Zuma, well known for his collaboration with Chow Mane and Dane Amar, and mixed and mastered by Turkish Dcypha, meanwhile the cover art and lyric video were created by Tokyo based graphic designer Hyperbeamcat. “Can’t Get over Myself” is nice combination of R&B and punk fusion, with a summer-ish vibe and a lovely tempo that will make you dance.

The creation of Otomodatchi which can be translated as “Friends” started in 2016 in the band CIRRRCLE until December 2020 when they decided to go their separate ways, which led to the emergence of this sub-unit, composed of the Japanese singer Amiide and the Americain rapper Jyodan.

Even though the duo was formed only in 2022, Jyodan, the former drummer of the band, kept working with and supporting Amiide with her solo project From The Top, which got the attention of BBC 1Xtra in the UK, thanks to the single “Better Miss Me”. Finally, their first single together was recorded in Amiide’s bedroom and dropped officially in March 2023.
