Independent artist Cannon returns with his second single titled “These Walls”, which comes on the back of his debut offering “Water Glass”, which was released earlier this year, and has gone on to land over half a million streams on Spotify. No word on whether this is part of an upcoming project, but if it were, I would be putting my pre-orders from now.
Almost taking the best elements of R&B, Hip-Hop and acoustic music, “These Walls” is led by Cannon’s amazing vocal performance, flawless rap-singing flow, and the unassuming acoustic guitar arrangements, which do well to take the back seat, and allow Cannon’s voice and delivery to steal the show. Every part of the song grabs your attention, so much so, that if you want to find out what the song is about, you literally have to listen intently to the words.
Speaking about “These Walls”, the 21-year old South Carolina rising star says it is “a dreamlike soundscape of battling with self-doubt and anxiety. Blending R&B and hip-hop influences with an organic acoustic sound, ‘These Walls’ hinges on sharp lyricism and in-the-pocket delivery. The lyrics reflect external pressures, how heavy things can seem, but how overcoming them is ultimately in your control“.
