Cardi B Interviews Democratic Presidential Candidate Joe Biden For ELLE | Politics
US rap artist Cardi B has been making headlines with her new song “WAP“ featuring Megan Thee Stallion in the past weeks. The explicit tune is riding high on the charts all over the world and has caused a discussion about sexual female empowerment.
Now the international singer and mother is showing her political side again and recently interviewed the democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden in a Zoom call. In a 16-minute call for ELLE Magazine titled ‘Cardi B In Conversation, they talked about Covid-19, police brutality, paying for college and healthcare.
During the talk, Cardi mentions a lot of structural problems in the US and has a lot of proposed changes in mind. “I have a whole list of things that I want our next president to do for us. But first, I just want Trump out”, she says. In her opinion Trump’s behavior in the ongoing pandemic is dangerous and capricious.
“One day he’s telling them this is nothing, that people need to stop getting tested. Next thing you know, he has a mask on his face. He’s really playing games. And it’s crazy that all of this had to happen so they could open their eyes to the past four years”, Cardi states out.
She basically wants a president who’s honest with the citizens and can deliver answers. Furthermore she points out the importance of free healthcare, especially in times like this. “And I want Black people to stop getting killed and no justice for it. If I kill somebody, I’ve got to go to jail. You gotta go to jail, too. That’s what I wan’t”, she says speaking up for stricter laws.
Joe Biden brings up that the election is very important and the young people should vote to have an impact on the political situation. He really sees a hope in the young generation and for change. Watch the whole interview below.
