Chanel Unveils Balletcore Elegance For Spring/Summer 2024 Haute Couture Collection

Femininity, delicacy, and poetry took center stage at Chanel’s catwalk during the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week 2024, masterfully orchestrated by artistic director Virginie Viard.

Immerse yourself in a world of grace and balletcore inspiration with the Spring/Summer 2024 Haute Couture Collection, showcasing youthful looks, girly details, and a distinctive color palette. Drawing inspiration from “opera rats” and the world of dancers, Viard created a light symphony of tulle, ruffles, pleats, and lace.

The highlight of the show? The famous Chanel button, magnified as a giant installation descending majestically from the ceiling of the ephemeral Grand Palais in Paris.

The notes from the runway reveal Viard’s vision: “Bringing together the power and finesse of bodies and clothing in a very light collection, made of tulle, ruffles, pleats, and lace“.

Chanel reminds us of its century-old history with dance, a century after Gabrielle Chanel’s first creations for the ballet in St. Petersburg. The collection unveils short straight skirts, jumpsuits, lightweight capes adorned with embroideries, illusion tulle pockets embellished with sequins, ribbons, and small flowers.

Ballet tights, transparent overpants, and high heels add a touch of elegance. The iconic tweed jacket returns in light shades of pink and cream, sewn with colorful threads.

Chanel brings a youthful touch by collaborating with rapper Kendrick Lamar for a musical performance. The runway incorporates streetwear elements, including a surprising Chanel puffer jacket.

The collection highlights the importance of the Chanel button, a symbol of the craftsmanship and expertise of the house. The short film “The Button,” featuring Margaret Qualley searching for a missing button, adds a touch of mystery to the minimalist aesthetics of the runway.

In summary, the Chanel haute couture Spring-Summer 2024 runway was an explosion of feminine elegance, placing the house in the indispensable trend of balletcore that marked the previous year.
