According to Mark Pedowitz, The CW are in talks to create a brand new Gossip Girl reboot, but is it something we need?
“There’s a discussion, but I don’t know if we’re there yet, I don’t know what it would be. A lot is up to Warner Bros. and [exec producers] Josh [Schwartz] and Steph[anie Savage], ’cause you don’t want to do anything without them,” said the CW executive.
The news is slightly shocking to readers, since the show isn’t actually that old. it first aired in September 2007, and ran till 2012, but everything is up-to-date in terms of cinematography and style, so why fix something that isn’t broken?
Apparently big companies love to reproduce old hits because they’re afraid of taking a chance on new talent. It has been happening for years, and it isn’t going to go away anytime soon. So expect to see plenty of reboots of old beloved shows during your lifetime.
Sometimes some things are better left untouched, and in this case, Gossip Girl was a masterpiece of teen drama, which is very hard to come by, so why ruin that? Are you excited for a reboot? Will there be anyone good enough to replace the iconic Chuck and Blair?
