Fatima Al Qadiri Announces New Album And Shares New Single ‘Malaak’ | Music News

 

Senegalese-born and New York-based Kuwaiti musician Fatima Al Qadiri has just released a brand new single “Malaak” and promises to release her new LP very soon!

 

Famous for her experimental yet conceptual electronic projects  Fatima Al Qadiri produced “Muslim Trance“, a mini mix for DIS magazine garnering her first rays of fame in 2010. From 2011 to 2012, she released several EPs on various labels under the stage name Ayshay.

 

Her debut album entitled Asiatisch was released by Hyperdub, which was followed by Brute in 2016. Fatima’s latest work was 2017 EP Shaneera that provided the original score for Mati Diop‘s 2019 film Atlantics.

 

Recently, Fatima has announced a new album Medevial Femme to be released  digitally and on CD on May 14. Vinyl editions of the album will also hit shelves on July 23. Acrosss Medevial Femme, Fatima brings together synthesized lutes, pipes organ and her stunning vocal.

 

According to the singer’s press release, the soon-to-be-released studio album is inspired by classical poems of Arab women and already reveals its lead single ‘Malaak”. Hyperdub has already released it on its official YouTube channel.

 

Written fully by Fatima, the song is unlike everything you have heard before. Its magnificent ethnic sound of the East complements Fatima’s low smooth voice.
