First Trailer For Fox News Drama ‘Bombshell’ Revealed | Film Trailer

The first trailer for the Oscar-tipped Fox News drama Bombshell is here, and it reveals Nicole Kidman and Charlize Theron as real-life characters Gretchen Carlson and Megyn Kelly.

The film also sees Margot Robbie play a fictional producer, Kayla Pospisil. The star-studded cast is rounded out by Kate McKinnon, Allison Janney, Connie Britton, Rob Delaney and Malcolm McDowell.

In his new movie, the director Jay Roach dramatizes the disturbing events which took place at Fox News a year before the Harvey Weinstein scandal started the #MeToo movement.

In summer 2016, Gretchen Carlson filed a lawsuit against Fox News CEO Roger Ailes (John Lithgow), saying he had fired for refusing to have sex with him. After more women came forward accusing him of sexual harassment, Ailes had no choice but to resign from the company.

This is not the first time the story of Ailes’ downfall has hit the screen. Earlier this year Showtime released the series titled The Loudest Voice, which saw Russel Crowe as Ailes and Naomi Watts as Carlson.

Charlize Theron, who plays the controversial journalist Megyn Kelly, revealed how her work on Bombshell made her sympathise more with the character she portrayed. “She was in a complicated place and as a human being”, she said. “I have empathy for that. I don’t think a lot of people truly understood that”.

Bombshell is out on December 20.
