‘Gilmore Girls’ Netflix Reunion Bittersweet As Melissa McCarthy Is Left Out Of Cast List | TV News
The recent Netflix reunion of Gilmore Girls was received bittersweetly by fans who fell in love with the seven season long family drama, mainly due to the fact that Melissa McCarthy – who rose to fame playing Lorelai Gilmore’s (played by actress Lauren Graham) plucky business partner Sookie St. James – did not appear on the cast list.
The Actress has revealed to fans on Twitter the reason behind that – she was never asked.
“Thanks for the invite, but sadly no one asked me or Sookie to come back to Stars Hollow. Wish them all the best!!” she responded to a fan begging her to return, differing from comments of the Creator Amy Sherman Palladino, who commented that she had been in contact with the actress’ team:
“She’s really f**king busy,” she said. “But the thing I have said [to her team] is, ‘Look, if Melissa is available and has an afternoon free, I’ll write her a scene.”
