Lana Del Rey Returns With New Single ‘A&W’

The second song from Lana Del Rey‘s upcoming ninth studio album, Did You Know There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd, is titled “A&W“, and it was released earlier this week.

The song, which was produced by Jack Antonoff, a frequent collaborator, clocks in at an epic 7 minutes and 43 seconds, albeit it still falls short of the 9 minutes and 36 seconds of “Venice Bxtch

After the intensely introspective lens of the album’s title track “Did You Know There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd” where Lana questioned her own lasting legacy, “A&W” (which stands for American Whore) is a spacious jazz-folk record in which she recalls some childhood recollections.

On the hook, Lana states, “It’s not about having someone love me anymore. This is the experience of being an American whore“.

The production of “A&W” then completely changes in Antonoff’s talented hands, swapping off its guitars for a dark and dismal, highly electronic trap beat, with Lana’s voice whirling around in a chaos of sound until she starts rapping. However, she keeps her elegance, and a certain “zenitude” in all that she creates.

This new project is sure to be one of Lana’s most daring musical evolutions in recent memory. It partially reverts to her Born To Die aesthetic, and we already know Lana genuinely has bars, as demonstrated on classics like “Blue Jeans” and “Off To The Races“.

Following the release of Chemtrails Over The Country Club and Blue Banisters in 2021, Lana Del Rey will release her new album on March 24, and we can’t wait to hear it!
